Day 1 - Sydney

To see all that Sydney has to offer, spend a number of days exploring. Relive history with a walk through the cobblestone lanes of The Rocks. Combine coffee, lunch or dinner with a harbour cruise and marvel at the beauty of Australia’s European birthplace. Museums, art galleries, churches, theatres, restored historic buildings and parks are all within an easy walk.

 
Day 2 - Sydney to Newcastle

Visit Henry Kendall’s 1836 Cottage, treat yourself to a relaxing outing at the Edogawa Japanese Gardens or fill the afternoon with a bushwalk to historical Aboriginal and European sites. Continue to Newcastle and view floodlit historic buildings before retiring.

 
Day 3 - Newcastle to Forster

Enjoy a morning tour on Newcastle’s Famous Tram before heading to Maitland and Morpeth, where yesteryear’s architecture can be seen in today’s galleries, cafes and cosy retreats. With the Hunter Wine Country so close, join a vineyard tour and spend the day indulging in award winning wine and good food. Drive to historic Stroud, where many of the town’s convict-built structures still exist. Forster is tonight’s stopover.

 
Day 4 - Forster to Kempsey

An Aboriginal cultural and bush tucker walk with Tobwabba Tours in Forster, complements the urban coastal indigenous art Tobwabba Gallery displays. Enjoy a heritage walk and other craft and art galleries in and around Taree before travelling to Port Macquarie. Here a visit to St Thomas’ Anglican Church, an historic cemetery and the Maritime Museum are musts. Reflect on the day’s travel before retiring at Kempsey.

 
Day 5 - Kempsey to Bellingen

Drive to South West Rocks and tour historic Trial Bay Gaol (1886) and walk to Smoky Cape Lighthouse (1891). Back in Kempsey, wander through the Wigay Cultural Education Park, which features traditional food trees and visit Kempsey Museum to view the historic collection of glass photographic negatives on show. Further north, turn off to Lower Taylors Arm and the Pub With No Beer for a light refreshment before travelling to Bellingen for the night.

 
Day 6 - Bellingen to Grafton

Bellingen will delight you with galleries, arts and crafts, festivals and markets. While away the hours in museums at Nambucca Heads and Bowraville before travelling to Woolgoolga for an insight into the town’s Indian influence. Grafton is home to many National Trust buildings and art galleries, so tour the town at your leisure.

 
Day 7 - Grafton to Tweed Heads

Stretch your legs at the 19th century river port of Ulmarra. Stroll through galleries, antique shops and the historic cemetery, then quench your thirst in a quaint tea room or the colonial style hotel. Enjoy the charm of a local market in Ballina, Byron Bay, Lismore or Mullumbimby or roam the Tweed Valley for antiques, ceramics, sculpture or jewellery.

 
Day 8 - Tweeds Heads to Brisbane

Near Tweed Heads, stroll through 300 acres of national park, originally the home of the Bundjalung people. Visit heritage listed Aboriginal sites and the Minjungbal Aboriginal Museum, where unique artefacts are displayed. Either spend your day on the Gold Coast browsing through galleries, craft shops and studios or head to Brisbane and take a guided tour of the city’s heritage buildings. Tonight, treat yourself to the ballet, opera or theatre.

 
Day 9 - Brisbane to Maryborough

Head towards the Sunshine Coast and turn off to Caloundra for a memorable visit to the Queensland Air Museum. Continue to the famous Ettamogah Pub for lunch and further on, stop at Eumundi for one of their popular markets. On Fridays in the “Heritage City” of Maryborough, you will be enchanted with scenes straight from the past.
