TAKE THE SEAROAD
Imagine yourself sitting back and relaxing aboard the MV Sorrento and MV Queenscliff while taking the searoad when you are next visiting the Bellarine Peninsula. The Queenscliff-Sorrento car ferries criss-cross the southern end of Port Phillip Bay 24 times a day, every day of the year. Each ferry is able to carry up to 700 passengers and 80 vehicles, the twin-hull vessels are purposely built to operate in all weather conditions. The ferries operate seven days a week and leave every hour on the hour 7am until 6pm. The MV Sorrento is fully equipped to cater for passengers with disabilities, including an internal lift from the vehicle deck to passenger lounge.
Highlights of the 40 minute journey include unparalleled views of historic lighthouses, at Point Lonsdale and Queensciff. Look out for the Point Nepean fortifications along the shoreline and navigational features guiding shipping vessels down the bay. Seals and dolphins are often spotted frolicking and performing in the waters, all of these sights are available from the comfortable lounge areas and numerous observation decks. The on board cafes, provide delicious light meals, with freshly baked cakes and refreshing drinks.
The return trip for foot passengers is only $20 for adults. From the terminal at Queenscliff it is an easy stroll into the historic township of Queenscliff. The cost to take a car one way is $48.00 with accompanying driver and passengers $7.50 each. Seasonal rates apply. Passengers with vehicles are advised to arrive at the terminals at least 30 minutes prior to departure.
